Founded in 2003, the Manchester Phoenix are the North West's only English Premier League Team (EPL). With teams ranging from the Junior Under-10 level right up to the EPL Ice Hockey squad, all playing out of the 2,200-seater Altrincham Ice Rink, the Manchester Phoenix Ice Hockey Club is a true family orientated sport. Competing in the English Premier League, the semi-professional team will play over 27 home league games in 2009-10 and compete on all fronts for silverware against clubs from Basingstoke, Bracknell, Guildford, Milton Keynes, Peterborough, Sheffield, Slough, Swindon and Telford. Manchester Phoenix home games are predominantly on a Sunday evening, commencing at 5.30pm and finishing before 8.00pm, with crowds averaging 1,500 and growing: The Phoenix is a sporting spectacle on the rise. A night at the Ice Hockey is an entertainment-packed affair with lots of interactive off-ice fun for all the family added to the speed, skills, thrills and spills of the fastest sport in the world, and in an atmosphere second to none! Our club encompasses an approved School Roadshow that each and every week of the season takes Ice Hockey out into the community encouraging participation in sport and promoting a healthy living programme. Last season, the Phoenix Roadshow took the message to over 50 schools across Manchester and further. This season with the support of sponsors and local schools we hope to invite children to the Ice Rink to get a feel of what it is like to Ice Skate and learn basic Ice Hockey skills. With Britain's most celebtrated ice Hockey star - Tony Hand MBE back for his fourth season as Head Coach, the 2009-10 season promises to be our biggest and best yet.
